After graduating from the University of Lincoln with a First Class Degree in Dance, I applied to the Bedfordshire SCITT Partnership (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training) to complete a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education).
After my successful interview, I undertook a one year secondary placement at Lealands High School in Luton, learning the craft of teaching Dance, and exploring the pedagogy of teaching alongside a caring and supportive mentor.
Once my training had come to an end I gained a Dance specialist and PE role at Denbigh High School in Luton. This is where I started my two year ECT course (Early Career Teacher) to continue reflecting and gaining valuable experiences within the teaching profession. During this time I have also taken part in various training courses such as First Aid, Child Protection, Safeguarding and Mental Health within the workplace.
Currently I am thoroughly enjoying my teaching career and I was fortunate enough to gain a Head of House role which works on ensuring that students are given opportunities beyond the classroom. However, the most rewarding part of my job is sharing my love and excitement for Dance, incorporating many skills and knowledge learnt from my time at Lincoln.
