What are you doing now you have graduated from the University of Lincoln?: I am now working within the Careers & Employability team at the University of Lincoln. My main focus is supporting traditionally underrepresented student groups in their career planning. I help to engage these students in career activities and run focus groups to hear from our students about how best to support them.
How did your time at the University of Lincoln support your career?: My time at the University shaped my career greatly. I began university not really knowing what I wanted to do after graduation. After volunteering through the Students’ Union and the school of Humanities and Heritage, I found my passion for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and disability advocacy. This led me to become the disabilities officer for the SU, founding SEDIC (2020), and then studying my EDI degree.
What are the best parts of your job?: The best parts of my job are supporting students who are in similar positions to where I was 5 years ago. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with current University students and adore working with my team.
If you could give our current students any top tip for after graduation and their careers, what would it be?: Begin planning early but do not panic if you don’t know exactly what you want to do. The careers & employability team are always here to help you. Things will work out in the end no matter what!
What inspired you to study at the University of Lincoln (or one of its predecessor institutions)?: Feeling such a strong sense of community and belonging during my undergraduate degree led me to stay.
What was your favourite thing about being a student at the University of Lincoln (or one of its predecessor institutions)?: The amount of opportunities to take part in so many different activities whilst you are at Lincoln. This was a great way to network and helped me to make some of my best friends! I am so grateful for these opportunities and have really boosted my skills through various volunteer roles at the University.
What would you say to a prospective student thinking of applying to the University of Lincoln?: Do it! Lincoln is a home to all and will welcome you no matter what.
