Jacob studied Drama and Theatre at undergraduate and postgraduate level and has since embarked upon a freelance career, being subsequently shortlisted for the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting.

Jacob graduated from the University of Lincoln with an MA in Theatre in 2019 having already completed his BA (Hons) in Drama. Jacob works as a freelance writer, actor and filmmaker and, having been shortlisted for the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting in 2019, has worked on a variety of projects including tv mini-series, When it Rains, which has guest-starred Harry Potter actor and Lincoln alumnus, Chris Rankin.

“I have always been interested in the arts and creativity, and, after finishing Sixth Form, I decided that I wanted to study at an institution that balanced both providing me a platform to explore and hone my passion academically and allow me to also have a more ‘traditional’ university experience socially. After researching and visiting the University of Lincoln, I decided it was the right institution for me, as it bridged the gap between the two.”

“My time studying at the University of Lincoln gave me a useful foundation to build upon when entering the arts industry in a professional context. Even now I have graduated, the University of Lincoln, both the institution and its staff, still supports my career and follows my progression with enthusiasm and encouragement.”

Jacob’s biggest tip for current students and graduates is to get out and make sure that your chosen industry knows who you are, even in the smallest of ways. If you have a contact who knows someone, have found an email online, or met someone at a networking event, use it to your advantage.
