During my time at the University of Lincoln, I studied the Physical Education and Sport Degree, graduating in 2020.

Following graduation, I went on to complete a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education with QTS through the University of Cumbria. My reason for choosing this route was to provide myself with an international pathway in teaching. With that being said, I am currently teaching in Taupo Intermediate School over in New Zealand and could not be happier.

Due to the UK and New Zealand term times differing, when finishing my PGCE, securing a position in New Zealand proved difficult due to it being mid-way through their school year. So, I enrolled myself as a relief teacher to begin gaining experience in New Zealand schools and develop a better understanding of the culture, ahead of securing a full-time teaching position. After relieving for the two remaining terms of the 2021 school year, Taupo Intermediate then offered me a full-time position at the school from the 2022 academic year.

During my time over here so far, my most enjoyable moments have been embracing teaching the traditional Māori games such as Ki-O-Rahi, taking the school outdoor education camps, taking classes skiing for the day and being heavily involved with the dominant place that rugby plays on New Zealand School Sport. I am thoroughly enjoying my teaching journey so far since graduating from Lincoln and it goes without saying that the University of Lincoln provided me with the concrete foundations that are contributing towards my current successes.

In April this year I will be embarking on the next step in my New Zealand journey. I have accepted my dream role with PE and Outdoor Education in a private school on the heart of the South Island. I am beyond excited about this opportunity due to the PE and Outdoor Education opportunities it will allow me to cover within my teaching.
