The S&C in Sport degree at University of Lincoln provided me with the correct tools to gain a deep understanding of exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and strength and conditioning, allowing me to create tailored training programmes that optimise athletes’ potential and reduce the risk of injuries. Additionally, the hands-on experience and practical training provided during the degree enabled me to apply my knowledge in real-world scenarios, working with diverse individuals ranging from elite athletes to those seeking general fitness improvement.

Though the degree alone is very beneficial, if it wasn’t for the lecturers, it would not be the same. They go above and beyond for any student who shows willingness and help as much as they can so you can achieve your goals. As much as I can take credit for gaining a 1st class degree, I know it wouldn’t have been possible without all the support in and out of class from the lecturers.

USA 8 week S&C Placement at California State University, Northridge

After my studies, the University encouraged me to apply for work experience, which took place in Los Angeles, California. Though I applied, I never truly thought I’d get it, but my placement was the best experience I have ever had. The placement was 2 months long and I got to work alongside top S&C coaches (Ashley Samaniego, Alfredo Carrasco, and Bob Alejo). I coached a variety of Division 1 athletes, which broadened my experience and developed my coaching ability. My time at CSUN University was incredible and I would highly recommend current or post-grad students to go for any opportunity that comes their way.

Hull City FC Physical Performance Internship

While on my placement in America, another fantastic opportunity emerged for me, which I was highly encouraged to apply for by my UoL programme leader. In America, I had an interview for the role of Hull FC 1st team physical performance intern. Luckily enough, I got offered this paid position and started very quickly once I came back to the UK. The thought of working with professional athletes and a team was very exciting and made me want to work even harder and push my capabilities more than ever before.

The blend of science and practice in elite sports, as well as designing tailored training and collaborating with players and coaches, have all been incredibly fulfilling. This opportunity has

enriched my sports science knowledge and reinforced my commitment to evidence-based athlete training. I’m extremely thankful for the insights gained and the connections made during this journey.

I would love to thank all the lecturer at University of Lincoln who helped me achieve this, as their support allowed me to follow my passion and really guided me through. Thank you to my friends and family for their constant encouragement and I am so excited to progress and develop my career within Strength and Conditioning, using the vital, in-depth knowledge that I learnt whilst studying at University of Lincoln.
