Alumni Graduation Speech: Shane Rawlings

Work-based distanced learning alumnus, Shane Rawlings, delivered an inspirational alumni speech at our September Graduations.

Already in the world of work when, at the age of 25, he decided he needed a career change. To find something he was passionate about – which turned out to be -food. A distance learner, Shane graduated from the University of Lincoln’s National Centre for Food Manufacturing in 2021.

Shane shared the following words with those graduates in the audience that day, “Embrace whatever change is coming your way… you will have successes and you will have setbacks, but after all, this is your story and you are masters of your own destiny. If I could give you one piece of advice… enjoy it all, there will always be a chapter in your book that you’d rather replace with one which is full of joy.”
