My Media Career
Maria graduated from the BA (Hons) Media Production course in 2018. Since graduating she has worked as a BFI Script Trainee on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and is now a Production Co-ordinator at Karrot; an animation studio which produces programmes such as Peppa Pig. Find out more from Maria about her media career here.
When I left the University of Lincoln, I entered the film industry before even graduating, which was insane. I started my media career as a BFI Script Trainee credit on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2018, which was a surreal experience from start to finish. After that, I script supervised on three short films, Dawn in the Dark dir Runyararo Mapfumo, Signs dir Yero Timi-Biu and Sanjay Saves the World dir Tusli Behl. After leaving the live-action sphere in 2019, I joined Karrot, an animation studio in London, as an Edit Assistant and voice actress on the pre-school show ‘Tish Tash’, now showing on CBeebies! Fast forward to 2022, I’m now a Production Coordinator here at Karrot and working with the production team on live projects such as ‘Peppa Pig’ and with the development team on a range of projects including one of my own. My job entails a whole range of tasks, so each day can be a little different. With ‘Peppa Pig’ I’m often script organising, reviewing and prepping for voice records. In the development side of things, I’m usually reviewing pitch materials and organising/attending meetings to pitch Karrot’s amazing IPs, which is always exciting! I’m always grateful for the opportunities that my course at the University of Lincoln has led me to and I look forward to the opportunities ahead.
