Back in 2015, single mum of two, Rachel Harwood, was struggling to make ends meet. She wanted to change her situation and felt a degree could improve her earning potential and help support her family. So, at 39 years old, she started a degree in Law.
Fast forward a few years and Rachel successfully completed her studies. After graduating, she decided to switch her focus from the courtroom to the housing sector and now manages multi-million-pound projects and improves housing conditions for private tenants as part of her role at a Local Authority.
Rachel shared her amazing story as a guest speaker at the September ceremonies. “Success is not defined by a single path,” said Rachel. “It’s about finding your purpose, embracing your unique journey, and making a meaningful impact. Be bold. Be audacious. Embrace the unexpected twists and turns that life throws your way.”
And it was a double celebration, as Rachel’s eldest daughter was graduating the same day. Speaking to her daughter as a proud parent, she said: “Your journey is just beginning, and I can’t wait to see where it takes you.”
